Light Energy Regulator (Person who controls the blinds) Before the second bell rings in the morning, 8:40 AM (9:40 AM on PLC Mondays) open both blinds on the side windows. At the end of the day be sure both blinds are closed. Throughout the day if more or less light energy or is required, the light energy regulator is the person who should raise or lower the blinds, as requested by Mrs. Crain
3
Nutritionist (Person in charge of the lunch choice magnet board) As soon as students enter the classroom, they are to move their name magnet on the lunch choice board. After the second bell in the morning, 8:40 AM (9:40 AM on PLC Mondays) you are to remind anyone who forgot to move their magnet to do so. Inform Mrs. Crain of anyone who is absent, or whose magnets are still on top of the lunch choice board. At the end of the day, after you have packed up and are ready to go, you are to use a Kleenex and erase the hot lunch item and move all magnets back to the top of the board. Make sure no magnets have fallen to the ground or are under the board stand.
4
Librarian (Person who is responsible for the classroom treasures) First thing in the morning, you are to take the Library check out clipboard around to those who have checked out a book the night before. If they have returned the book you cross their name off the list. Return the clipboard to the table, put a new library check out page on the clipboard. Return the list to Mrs. Crain, informing her of anyone who did not return their barrowed book. If you have spare time throughout the day or during the first few minutes of lunch recess straighten library shelves. Making sure AR dots are all in the correct location and book spines are facing outward.
5
Post Person (Student in charge of passing out papers into the correct mailboxes) In the morning you will find stacks of papers on your desk that are to be put into the mailboxes. You are one of the only students excused from completing morning work on time. Also, during the day you will be handed papers that need to be put into mailboxes. Any papers still not in mailboxes must be placed during the second recess. (Which is why you are given the morning work time to complete your job.)
6
Green Team Leader (Person responsible for tuning on and off computers and lights) First thing in the morning, you are to make sure the computers are turned on and set to the Hazelwood AR testing site. At the end of the day you are responsible for correctly shutting down the computers and turning off the monitors. Anytime the class leaves the room, you will make sure the lights have been turned off. You will assist Mrs. Crain in any way possible that you find to decrease the classroom’s carbon footprint. If there are any school-wide green team meetings during the week, you will attend as our classroom representative.
7
Historian (Classroom photographer) You will keep the classroom camera on your desk for the week. It is your job to capture all exciting or important classroom activities by taking pictures. You may also take the camera to recess, but it is to remain on your wrist at all times and treated with the utmost care to ensure its safety. You may take the camera to specialists on one day of the week only, a day of your choosing. The camera and picture taking shall never disrupt classroom learning or the privilege will be revoked for the remainder of the week. Please limit the number of pictures you take to under 30. Think to yourself, “Is this a quality picture or is it going to waste one of my shots?”
8
Refuse Manager (Person in charge of the garbage cans) In the morning you are to bring in both garbage cans. Place one next to the inside door in front of the plastic board and the other in front of Mrs. Crain’s desk. At the end of the day you are to make sure that both cans are placed in the hall, so that they are out of the way but easily accessible for Mrs. Men Doh. Also, at the end of the day, take the blue recycle bin to the end of the hall and empty into the large blue recycle barrels. During the day, if at any time the trash cans are full, it your responsibility to inform the janitor, but not until you get Mrs. Crain’s permission to leave the classroom.
9
Patriotic Leader (Person who leads the class through the flag salute) As soon as the final morning bell rings, at 8:40 AM (9:40 AM on PLC Mondays),the patriotic leader will call out the following statements (loudly and politely) and wait for the class to follow his or her commands. “Please stand!” (Wait for all of class to realize what they need to do and all are paying attention.) “Hand on your heart.” “Ready, begin.” “I pledge…..” (The class will join in here) The main responsibility of your job is to be unpacked and ready to go, watching the clock, so that right when that bell rings you start our day.
10
Supply Officer (Pencil Sharpener) You are the only person in the class allowed to sharpen pencils this week! Every morning you are to sharpen all of the pencils in the “need sharpening” cup. If there are not enough pencils to fill the “sharpened” cup, let Mrs. Crain know we need more. Anytime throughout the day when the class is not involved in a lesson or class work, you may sharpen pencils, as long as all of your class work is done. At the beginning of any recess and at the end of the day, you may sharpen pencils, as well. NEVER when Mrs. Crain is teaching, talking or has students working on an important quiet test, quiz or activity.
11
Ecologist (Person who cares for the different classroom animal habitats) One small pinch of fish food every morning into the top of the fish tank, too much food will kill the fish. One algae tablet into the fish tank on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If the fish tank is low on water, pour a water bottle in from the back cupboard, never water from the tap. If we get other animals throughout the school year, it will be your job to be sure they have food and water. The best time to see to it that this is done on a regular basis, without forgetting, is first thing in the morning, before you begin your morning work.
12
Communications Officer (Person in charge of delivering and collecting messages) Anytime there are any messages or items that need to be sent to or from the office, janitor or anywhere in the school, you will be Mrs. Crain's “go to” person.
13
Teacher’s Assistant (TA) You and your partner will be in charge of passing out papers in a quick and efficient manner. You will also be picking up papers, making sure that every student turns one in. It is your job to make sure that every paper that is picked up has a name on it and that they are all facing the same way when they are given to Mrs. Crain. If students are asked to place their paper in the appropriate tub, you will monitor students to ensure that they have put their names on their papers and are placing them in the tub facing the same direction, not all “cattywampas”.
