4.  Find a job that requires a high school diploma or less and work full time.  Example  Lucy worked at Macy’s during high school, after she graduated she continued to work there full time.

5.  Offer courses and programs that teach particular skills and knowledge leading to a specific job  Can range in length from 3 months to 2 years  Example:  John attended Hennepin Technical College and earned an associate in Applied Science in Automotive Mechanics.

6.  Provide students with the first 2 years of a 4 year college education OR career-specific training in 2 years or less.  Example:  Maria attended Normandale Community College for 2 years and completed her “generals” and then transferred to the University of Minnesota.

7.  Comprehensive universities that offer programs leading to a bachelor’s degree/4 year degree and beyond.  Students earn undergraduate and graduate degrees.  Example:  Tanya attended the University of Minnesota and earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary science education.

8.  Join one of the branches of the US Military: Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Air Force, Reserve/Guard.  Example:  After high school, Dan joined the Navy.

9.  Plan today!  Set goals!  Work towards those goals!  Watch your plan become a reality!  Good Luck!
