3. Triphthongs They are sounds that are difficult to pronounce and transcribe. it is a movement from one vowel to another and then to the third one. sound sequence made up of three differing vo wel qualities. 3

4. A combination of triphthongs Triphthongs is combined by three vowels or a vowel plus diphthong. Or diphthong plus schwa. 4

5. Triphthong A triphthong is a glide from one vowel to another and then to a third, all produced rapidly and without interruption. For example, ‘hour’ begins with /a/ vowel quality similar to ‘ɑ:’, goes on to ‘ʊ’ then ends in ‘ə’. 5
