About MOD Funding WHAT  The Federal Transit Administration has made available $8 million for agencies to deploy ‘Mobility on Demand’ projects.  The MOD Sandbox Demonstration Program is intended to provide a platform where integrated MOD concepts and solutions are supported and demonstrated through local partnerships in a real-world setting.  FTA is looking for cutting edge projects that will test both the market and status quo. FTA will fund project teams to adopt innovative business models to deliver high quality, seamless and equitable mobility options for all travelers.

4. About MOD Funding WHO  The program is open to providers of public transportation, including public transit agencies, state/local government DOTs, and federally recognized Indian tribes.  Each recipient must identify one or more strategic project partner(s) with a substantial interest and involvement in the project.

5. About MOD Funding Goals - The primary objectives of this MOD Sandbox Demonstration Program are to:  Enhance transit industry preparedness for MOD  Assist the transit industry to develop the ability to integrate MOD practices with existing transit service.  Validate the technical and institutional feasibility of innovative MOD business models and document MOD best practices that may emerge from the demonstrations.  Measure the impacts of MOD on travelers and transportation systems.  Examine relevant public sector and federal requirements, regulations and policies that may support or impede transit sector adoption of MOD.

6. About MOD Funding Details  Due July 5 th (recommended that submission made by June 30 th )  FTA willing to provide regulatory and policy flexibility, submission must identify regulatory or policy hurdles  Cooperative Agreements – NOT grants  Federal Match = 80% (in-kind services are eligible)

7. About MOD Funding Details  Projects must be implemented within 12 months  FTA may transfer the flexibility of this program on to project sponsors not selected. (Said another way, agencies not selected may use formula funds under the same relaxed rules provided under this program)  An identified key partner is eligible (under Federal law) for a non-competitive grant  Projects required to include a data capture element
