EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Normal gLite Job Submission Path UI WMProxy WMS CE Use r CREAM CE CE Condor CE Job entry points
3
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Observation Two different job entry points. Why? – CREAM can be used also outside the gLite infrastructure: it is a stand-alone service – WMS, on the other hand, offers additional functionalities (e.g., matchmaking, resubmission of jobs...) – Users not interested in using the WMS functionalities can submit directly to CREAM
4
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Same situation, with BES UI WMProxy WMS CE Use r CREAM CE CE Condor CE BES
5
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE The actual situation is slightly different UI WMProxy WMS CE Use r Condor CE CE CREAM CE ICEJC+LM
6
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Speculation UI WMS Use r BES Connector CE CREAM CE BES CE Condor CE BES CE UNICORE CE BES WMProxy
7
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Issues That would need non negligible modifications to the gLite infrastructure – Discussion just started, outcome not obvious BES offers less features than the standard interface of CREAM and the Condor CE BES requires JSDL job descriptions; gLite uses classad-based JDL – Switching all gLite to JSDL not feasible – JSDL -> JDL translator already build – (subset of) JDL -> JSDL translator could be considered – JSDL submission from UI not trivial

EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Proposed Activity Planning / 1 Short term goal: Get BES and JSDL working inside CREAM, UNICORE and GLOBUS CEs – Can this be done in a reasonable (<6 months) timescale? – A single BES-enabled client could then submit the same job to multiple BES-enabled CEs—exactly what the SC06 demo is about – Appears very useful to demonstrate the usefulness of BES and JSDL – Authentication/Authorization issues will be addressed by JRA3, and implemented when ready
9
EU project: RIO31844-OMII-EUROPE Proposed Activity Planning / 2 Long term goal: complete interoperability of different GRID systems? – “Plugging” whichever BES CE in existing gLite/Globus/UNICORE-based GRIDs – Should that be done in strict cooperation with JRA3/Infrastructure Integration? – Authentication/authorization issues will be addressed by JRA3/Security
