March 12, 2003 S.Panacek Control Room Logbook (CRL Abstract Updates from Last Status Report Other News Participants, Timeline, and Deliverables

March 12, 2003 S.Panacek Abstract The CRL is an electronic logbook used to capture control room activity. Rich feature set, mature application. Technologies: Java, JSP, and XML

March 12, 2003 S.Panacek Status on Previous Goals Previous goals (presented 3/03) –Deliver new features and bug fixes CRL app is now in low maintenance. Very few new releases, no new requests, very few complaints. –Installation for CMS, BTeV and other new users CMS used CRL for the test beam. They liked it, especially being able to make entries at CERN and reading it here. BTeV low usage

March 12, 2003 S.Panacek Status on Previous Goals (cont) –Remote access Technical difficulties with remote access via the CRL App. Instead redesigned the web interface (see next slide) –Upgrade to the HEPBook Received 3 alpha releases Not a priority at this time. Let the experiments decide once it is production quality (April 04)

March 12, 2003 S.Panacek CRLW CRLW (CRL Web interface) –Rewrite this summer. Much better, more functionality from the web, and easier to search and use. –Motivation: was not maintainable, each experiment was expected to maintain their own JSP pages. –Installed at Minos and D0. –Demo to CMS. MinibooNE is also ready to upgrade. –Now in ‘maturing mode’, still get many good ideas from users that should be implemented. –Takes pressure off to upgrade to HEPBook

March 12, 2003 S.Panacek
