1 Grammar Lesson 26 Vocabulary: Delusion- a persistent false belief, which is usually pathological Illusion- a false belief produced by misinterpretation of things that actually exist Allusion- a casual or indirect mention of something

2 Transitive and Intransitive Verbs Transitive verbs: an action verb that has a direct object Examples: Amendment I protects our freedom of rights. We may have peaceful assemblies.

3 Intransitive Verbs Intransitive verbs: verbs that have no direct object Examples: Civil liberties are individual freedoms. The protestors were gathering quietly.

4 Examples The same verb can be transitive in one sentence but intransitive in another Thomas Jefferson wrote political theories. (transitive) Thomas Jefferson wrote convincingly. (intransitive)

5 Some action verbs are always intransitive Sleeps, sits, rise
