TURKISH REPUBLIC MINISTRY OF FOOD AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK General Directorate of Agricultural Reform PROJECT JUSTIFICATION: Agricultural cooperatives in member countries do not know each other and therefore cannot utilise the opportunity of doing business together. Consequently, agricultural cooperatives have a very small share in trade among member countries. The trade is mostly done not by producers or producer groups but by intermediaries. This results in reduced producer incomes and increased input costs for purchasers.

TURKISH REPUBLIC MINISTRY OF FOOD AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK General Directorate of Agricultural Reform PROJECT PURPOSE: In the long run: - Develop a platform for collaboration and e-trade among smallholders, agricultural organisations. In the short run: -Bring together representatives of potential parties -Analyse the trade potential among participating countries -Develop a road map for further collaboration. At the final stage: Agricultural cooperatives will access each other markets without a need for intermediary organizations. These Organisations will be able to sell each other products and increase their income. The project will also motivate these organisations to learn the market potentials and improving their standards and quality to meet the needs of the market.

TURKISH REPUBLIC MINISTRY OF FOOD AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK General Directorate of Agricultural Reform EXPECTED OUTCOMES: Trade strategy among member countries on selected products will be identified and road map for establishment of information infrastructure for improving trade of selected products among member countries will be developed. Indicators of expected results; -25 focal points will be verified -10 mostly traded agricultural products will be identified -38 agricultural cooperatives from 19 member countries will be identified. -One workshop, training programme and technical visit in Turkey will be organised -Results of the workshop will be presented as a report which will provide bases for the road map.
