Accelerated Reading (AR) Goal : to improve reading fluency, strengthen comprehension, and allow students to become confident, independent readers. This year, a student’s AR performance will be entered as a language arts grade. As a result, students will be asked to: *Read for 20 minutes each day *meet point goals each quarter. * strive to maintain a comprehension average of 90% or higher on AR tests

Our grade level mission is to adhere to the TOE Expectations and give 100% each day. In doing so, we will be able to master the Common Core Standards and we will be prepared to meet the challenges of Third Grade! Mission Statement Paws-itively Your Best!

Our students will meet or exceed quarterly AR points goals. Our students will meet or exceed an average score of 3.0 on the final “TOE Writes” writing assessment. Our students will meet or exceed an average score of 80% on all reading & math assessments Our Classroom Goals

Students who choose not to follow the BEAR Expectations can expect: to receive redirection to spend time in another classroom loss of playground time a note to parents a visit to the principal’s office

Math Worksheet Daily Math Facts Practice Language Arts Worksheet AR Reading * Additional assignments could be sent home with those students who would benefit from the extra practice. Homework... please check for accuracy!

Brown Envelopes -provided to transport newsletters, flyers, student quizzes, interims, report cards, and behavior/AR folders (Please do not send notes to the teacher in this envelope). Agenda Books -used by students to record daily homework assignments, spelling words, and are used by teachers to write notes or behavior reports. Transportation: A note is required to allow a student to change the manner in which he/she normally leaves school. Early dismissal also requires a note.
