INTRODUCTION Overhead Distribution system Overhead lines are generally mounted on wooden or concrete or steel poles which are arranged to carry distribution transformers in addition to the conductors Underground Distribution System Underground system uses conduits, cable and manholes under the surface of streets and sidewalks.

3. Over view of Project India, being a developing nation highly relies on overhead distribution lines for distribution of power throughout its towns and cities. This has been a conventional method of power supply. However owing to its disadvantages, this method of power supply is being replaced with an expensive yet effective method of power supply called underground(UG) distribution system. Why UG system..? It has low maintenance fee It has long life It ensures non-interrupted continuity of supply It elements hazards of electro-caution due to breakage of overhead conductors.
