Why are connections important? Connections shift students’ focus from language acquisition to broader learning experiences Opens up students access to information Increases students interest to learning Students can apply knowledge from one class to other classes Makes learning new things easier through knowledge learned in other classes

Standard 3.1 Students reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the foreign language

Progress Indicators Grade 4: Students demonstrate an understanding about basic concepts learned in other subject areas in the target language.

Progress Indicators Grade 8: Students discuss topics from other school subjects in the target language. Students comprehend articles or short videos in the target language on topics being studied in other classes. Students present reports in the target language on topics being studied in other classes.

Progress Indicators Grade 12 Students discuss more advanced topics from other school subjects in the target language Students acquire information from a variety of sources written in the target language about a topic being studied in other subjects
