11 THE PROBLEM Drought. Kumbharwadi is in a drought-prone region of India. Wells run dry in the summer, leaving women and girls to spend hours searching for water. Only 1 well. Lack of water exacerbates pre- existing sanitation issues with several types of waterborne diseases.
