Spaghetti Bridge You’ll have to use your noodle!

Day 1 Company Name Assign roles –Project Director/Transportation Chief –Architect/Accountant –3 rd person? Then assign 5 duties using a highlighter. Draw plans of the bridge to show three views: 1 square = 2 cm –One end, –Top, and –Side. Plans must be readable and clear. Rules for the bridge: –Can only touch inside the squares –Must be more than 5 cm high Tagboard boat, 5 cm tall, must be able to float under bridge –Must be 4 cm wide Tagboard car, 3.5 cm wide, must be able to drive across bridge

Day 2 Draw a river, 12 cm wide, in the middle of the cardboard. Draw one 5-cm square at each end of the cardboard (2.5 cm from the each edge). Cut one 4-cm square in the center. Remember: Apply glue sparingly to join spaghetti.

Budget You must discuss your budget. You have a limited amount of checks. Determine what is needed each day and see how much you have level for spaghetti. If you run out of money or checks you will have to take out another loan with a higher interest rate. Determine how much you will owe in interest and your total amount you will need to repay the bank. You will present this. Your bridge will be a toll bridge. Discuss how much you will charge for your tolls and how long it will take you to break even and start making a profit. You will present this as well.

Day 3 and 4 Construction! Remember: Apply glue sparingly to spaghetti joints. NO SUPER GLUE! NO bringing in your OWN supplies or taking it home! NO touching other’s designs

Day 5 Destruction! Get ready to present your loan amount, your pay back length and amount, your toll price and your break even time. Tested for strength by placing a pencil across the middle of the bridge and hanging weights from the bar The last weight that the bridge holds for 10 seconds without touching the cardboard is the weight recorded for the strength of the bridge. Ratio page: Record each company’s weight in grams and held in grams. Determine how many times their bridge’s weight each team held and who had the strongest bridge.
