2. Preparation for any test begins on the FIRST day of class! You should already be “working your plan” by now.

3. A Little Advice …  If you’ve “pretended” to have a test every Monday, you should be in great shape!  Don’t pull an all-nighter! You MUST sleep!  Set an alarm! Give yourself plenty of time to get to class.  Eat before you go to the test. Brain food is a must!  Show up at least 10 minutes before the test starts.

4. Test Taking Tips  Don’t feed off of your classmate’s anxiety. Find a quiet place if needed to gather your thoughts.  Br ing a watch so you can keep track of time. Pace yourself-don’t rush!  You can take a full minute for each question (if a 50 question test).  Don’t worry if others finish before you- focus on yourself!

5. The main thing… Keep a positive attitude throughout the test!

6. Let’s Talk About… The Multiple Choice Question First, cover the answer choices with scrap paper and read the question carefully: What is the question really asking? Do you have an answer in your mind? If so… Uncover your answer choices. If your answer is there, go for it! If not, look back at the question:

7. Then, look at all of the answers. There is only one correct one-the others are distracters or options! Now, Look at the stem… what is the question really asking? Try to weed out the distractors- your answer needs to be 100% true.

8. If you still don’t know… then ask yourself these questions:  Is there an answer similar to what I was thinking?  What would be the “textbook” choice for this question?  What would be the best choice for my patient?  Is my choice “true”. If all else fails… Take an educated guess, don’t leave it blank! With ‘select all that apply” questions, make sure you read each answer carefully before choosing. There will be at least 2 and could be all 5 choices!
