4. 2. THE ISS A. In 1998, putting aside their differences, Russia and United States worked together with 14 other countries to launch the International Space Station. B. The ISS is a research platform, used to conduct various experiments in 0- gravity and in space.

8. 3. OTHER ADVANCES A. In the 1950s, television beat radio to become the main source for news. B. Access to television (and pictures) has increased empathy and understanding for events within the country (such as civil rights) and those far away (such as the Vietnam war).
