2 Description  Lasted 400 years  One of the greatest period in history of China  People of China call themselves “People of Han”  Founded by Liu clan  After the Qin Dynasty and before the Three Kingdoms  Han ethnic group established itself as the core nation of China

3 Western Han Dynasty  Followed Qin Dynasty  226 BCE – 9 CE  First Period of Han Dynasty  Established during the Warring States Period  Ended by rebellion of Wang Mang  Chang’an as the capital  Founded by Liu Bang

4 Eastern Han Dynasty  206 BCE - 9 CE  Founded by Liu Xiu  Luoyang as the capital  Followed Xin Dynasty(9-24)  Later Han Dynasty  Ended with Capoi proclaiming himself emperor

5 Culture  Buddhism arrived in China  Confucianism became the philosophy-cum- religion  Taoism came into being  Government policies were taken from Confucianism
