3
Alpha Emission Alpha emission is when a radioactive nucleus emits a helium nucleus, and looses 2 protons and 2 neutrons.
4
Beta Emission During Beta Emission, a neutron is split into a proton and an electron, and then the electron is emitted out of the radioactive nucleus.
5
Positron Emission Positron emission is when the neutron to proton ratio is too small, so a proton turns into a neutron and a positron and the postiron is emitted. A positron is a particle with the same mass of an electron, but a positive charge.
6
Electron Capture Elctron capture is when the nucleus captures an electron which combines with a proton. The result of this combination is a neutron.
7
Gamma Emission Gamma emission happens when the nucleus is at an energy level that is too high. The nucleus emitts a gamma particle, bringing it down to a lower energy level.
