Organization Three person planning team met twice and subsequent planning happened via email and phone Amy Fry, Electronic Resources Coordinator Kari Johnson, Executive Assistant to the Dean Vera Lux, Reference & Instruction Librarian Timed to begin on Opening Weekend and conclude on the week of the grand opening of The Learning Commons and Thinkers Café (August 21-Sept. 10)

Prizes & Eligibility Graduated award over the three week contest $25, $50, $75 Gift card to the bookstore Funded from our marketing budget Open to all students, but focused on undergraduates

Contest Overview Graduated contest covering three services over three weeks. Week 1: Texting Week 2: Twitter Week 3: Facebook

Week 1: Texting Will you use your mobile device to find and/or use library resources? Text the keyword Jerome and your thoughts to 66746 for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the BGSU Bookstore!

Responses 21 submissions Selected Responses: Yes, I can find books that I need for class faster, so I don't have to wonder the shelves to find what I'm looking for. I would use my mobile device to find library resources! I use my phone for everything. Librarians will definitely get texts from me throughout the school year!!!

Responses 43 participants Selected Responses...happily feed my stomach AND my brain-- all in ONE place! … be at the library even more than I am now...so probably just bring a sleeping bag and set up camp there …worry endlessly that bugs will eat the books and be very disappointed that just being a great library with awesome librarians is not good enough

Classes Promoted week 2 in three Psychology classes which led to significant participation

Reflection Saw moderate growth in social media over the life of the contest 92 new Facebook friends, 35,310 post views 38 new Twitter followers Received interesting feedback Participation likely depends on prize amounts and contest difficulty
