6. Due September 30 – Naviance Career Search and Resume b b 1. Career Search – instructions in handbook. Include a Naviance assessment screen shot in the body of your report. Submit to Google Classroom with naming convention LastFirst_CareerSearch b b 2. First Draft Resume – instructions in handbook. Create in Naviance and then convert to PDF. Submit to Google Classroom with naming convention LastFirst_Resume

Begin inputting new entries under the appropriate header. (Be sure to include your reference contact information for audit purposes.)

Job Shadow Details b b Brief after school visit to a company - complete the form, request a signature and business card. b b Can be completed earlier than deadline – possibly schedule on a late start morning 7:00-8:30 a.m., school holidays, or perhaps weekday office hours during vacations. b b The job shadow can be completed with a contact in your own personal network OR with a previous Troy mentor. Lists of Troy's Previous Mentors are available in Pre- Internship classrooms - a hard copy designed for review. b b The first job shadow is due on Friday, December 2.

13. Steps to Secure a Job Shadow Students should: 1. Identify future career fields. Consider Naviance career assessment. 2. Review your schedule and transportation. 3. Consider personal contacts through friends and family. 4. Consider businesses local to Troy and/or your home. 5. Review the lists of previous Troy Internship sites in your Troy Tech Pre-Internship classroom. Discuss with your Pre-Internship Coach. 6. During office hours (school break or lunch time), call a few sites. 7. On the day of the job shadow, bring a copy of the job shadow form (available on www.troyhigh.com/preinternship) for signature.www.troyhigh.com/preinternship

Pre-Internship Important Dates Due dates for the 3 job shadows: Fridays Dec 2, Feb 3 and Mar 3. b b Tues, March 21, 2017 7:00pm Mandatory Intern Mtg Jr AND Parent - N Gym b b Thursday, April 27, 2017 2 nd Per Troy Tech Fair both Gyms - Exploration Form Due b b Thurs, April 28, 2017 Lunch Mandatory Jr Internship Meeting - North Gym b b Tues, May 30, 2017 8:00 am Mandatory Summer Intern Mtg, Lecture Hall-3 Forms Due/Summer intern start earning between 20-40 hours per week, consecutive weeks until 150 hours are earned. b b Mon, June 5, 2017 Latest date to start Summer Internship b b Wed, July 19, 2017 Latest date to complete Summer Internship. All paperwork due by 12:00 noon, Any programs or out-of-area internships should be approved by Mrs. Downum There is also the option for August 2017-May 2018 Fall/Spring Internship term.
