Current Pre-Algebra Students Test average of less than 80%, placement in Algebra 8 Test average of greater than or equal to 80%, placement in Advanced Algebra 8 Current Advanced Pre-Algebra Students Test average: Less than 80% Test average: Greater than or equal to 80% Placement in: Algebra 8 Placement in: Advanced Algebra 8 Test average: Less than 85% Test average: Greater than or equal to 85% Placement in: Advanced Algebra 8 Placement in: Honors Algebra 1 *In cases where a marked improvement or drop is seen, the recommendation can be reevaluated and changed

Honors Algebra 1 Honors Algebra 1 is designed for the exceptional math student who has demonstrated consistent success and an innate ability in mathematics. This course is equivalent to Algebra 1 in high school. Students enrolled in Honors Algebra 1 are taught both 8 th Grade Math content and High School Algebra 1. However, the student only takes one PARCC test, the Algebra 1 test. Algebra 8 is designed to prepare students for the future study of higher level Algebra and Geometry in high school. Algebra 8 Advanced Algebra 8 Advanced Algebra 8 is designed to challenge students to go beyond the 8th grade standards by providing exposure to high school Algebra 1 topics.

Calculus is not required in High School. However, if a student in Advanced Algebra 8 wants to take Calculus they have three options. All require supervisor approval. In 9 th grade, students may enroll in both Algebra 1 and Geometry In 10 th grade, students may enroll in both Geometry and Algebra II Students may take Geometry at an approved summer school between 9 th and 10 th grade Five-Year Program in Four
