When writing examples of Adaptations: 1) STRUCTURE: Adjective – describe it AND name it 2) FUNCTION: What it does AND how it helps it SURVIVE.

Now Let’s Practice For each of the following critters please write down the following: 3 structures The functions of these structures TO HELP THE CRITTER SURVIVE in the wild.

Activity In your notebook Fashion a critter from your imagination Include at least 5 structures Be prepared to tell the class the function of those structures – how they help it survive

Make sure you explain your thinking! Bad – teeth to eat prey. Better - sharp teeth to tear into the skin of its prey. You need to use ADJECTIVES with your structures and explain how the structures actually help the critter.

On a sheet of paper next to your critter: 1) What is the name and scientific name? 2) What does it eat? 3) What eats it? 4) What are the 5 structures you modeled? 5) What are the functions of the structures and how do they help it survive? 6) Describe its habitat – where it lives.
