Observe principle1 What your eyes see What your ears hear What are your inner thoughts What are your bodily sensations Concentrate on the facts.

Feeling: Sensation principle 2 Do you Feel... Light-headed Pressure in the chest Sweaty palms Dry throat, difficult to swallow

Feeling: Emotion Physical sensations may have their emotional counterpoints: fear anxiety hurt worry anger

Honor your feeling Allow everyone to have the "feeling" of being heard and thus be more at ease.

Value principle 3 And then, what do you imagine about the other person’s needs, values, interpretations and expectations? What are your needs? How do you interpret the situation? What value do you assess to the moment? Judge fairly the situation: arrest the impulse to blame prepare your mind and heart to be centered

principle 4 WantWant Ask yourself: What do you want as a result of this meeting? What is your dream come true regarding this meeting? How do you envision your future with this person?

principle 5 Act Plan your work and work your plan. Plan a "dress rehearsal." Role play BOTH roles. Pretend you are feeling and thinking what the other person might think or feel and give voice to what you imagine he/she might say. Consider a "script."
