2 FASHION IN 1600: General: Fashion in the period 1550–1600 in Western European clothing was characterized by increased opulence. Contrasting fabrics, slashes, embroidery, applied trims, and other forms of surface ornamentation remained prominent.

3 WOMEN 1600 Women’s outer clothing generally consised of a loose or fitted grow worn over a kirtle or petticoat. An alternative to the grown was a short jacket or a doublet cut with a high neckline

4 MAN 1600 Men´s clothing consisted of a line shirt with collar or ruff and matching wrist ruffs, witch were laundered with starch to be kept stiff and bright

5 FASHION IN 1700: General Fashion was a thing of drama and art in Europe during much of the 18th century the French aristocracy, with its extravagant lifestyle, served as a fashion model at the time. The styles were increasingly affluent until the French Revolution, when it became fashionable simplicity conservative British styles.

6 WOMEN 1700 The dresses in the 1700s Were Made with design and detail with round Size Terms bathroom were well. At the beginning of the century, it used clothing to the body. By the 1730s, skirts grew considerably and by the 1750s, were huge. At the end of the century, they became thin again. Women in Europe took advantage of Marie Antoinette fashion and charming French. 7 MAN 1700 The basic costume of a European man was in knee pants, a white shirt, a sleeveless vest or a vest and a long coat. The men of the working class wore simple black suits of wool or muslin brown or black. Wealthier men wore suits or silk satin, with lace ties on the sleeves of their coats. 9 WOMEN 1800 The fashion canvas of the 18th century changed radically as the 19th century began and simpler, lighter brushstrokes were applied. Fashion in the first two decades mimicked classical Grecian drapery with its fluid lines. Bodices were minimal, cut to end under the bust thereby achieving a high waist that defined the silhouette. Necklines were predominantly low. Sleeves could be long or short.The use of tiny piping to finish seams began in this decade.

10 MAN 1800 In contrast to the 1800s reflected a marked preference for bolder styling particulary seen in frock coats with wider lapels and looser cuts. Waistcoats became fancier with bold patterns and metal buttons. In the early part of the decade, gentlemen wore extravagant, heavily starched, assymetrically tied cravats, which subsided later in the decade to reflect softer styling. At the beginning of the decade many gentlemen wore their hair parted on the side styled with an extreme frontal wave on top, but once again this subsided toward the end of the decade.
