School Improvement Team - Evaluation of SIP Effectiveness September 2015 As teachers and stakeholders worked to develop the BRES 2015-2016 SIP, careful consideration was taken to ensure the actions and processes required during the course of the 2015-2016 school year would increase goal targets and instructional awareness. Goal changes from the previous plan were made to encourage collaboration among the BRES School Improvement Team and stakeholder members. Staff development, summative and formative data, progress monitoring, common assessments, and effective scheduling are aligned with the SIP goals in an effort to support continuous student achievement. Continuous evaluations of data and strategies will identify major patterns and instructional factors which increase or decrease goal achievement. Changes in staff development, teaching practices, and/or objective interventions will be made in response to these evaluations.

Vertical Planning 3 rd Grade team working with 4 th Grade to ensure 3 rd grade math vocabulary and skills practice prepare students for 4 th grade math standards. This includes sharing of work samples, web sites, and teaching practices. Cross grade level planning to discuss common language which should be used during ELA. (Examples: Using “antonym” and “opposite”, “telling sentence” and “declarative sentence” etc. simultaneously in K-1) Data Days Data analyzation from Content Area Benchmarks by teacher/grade level to identify specific standards in which students struggled. Teachers used this data to plan for those standards which need to be integrated and retaught during the 2 nd nine week period. This data, as well as STAR benchmark data, was used in creating RTI/NBI groups for the next progress monitoring period.

Golden Radish Award ● Locally grown lettuce, apples, cucumbers, and tomatoes served to students during SY14-15. ● Students learned about growing and processing food firsthand on four different field trips. ● 11 taste tests conducted throughout the year, including eight taste tests of cilantro, kale, and different varieties of apples from Mercier Orchards organized by Blue Ridge Elementary School’s Cool Kids Grow Garden Club. State Fire Safety & Award Luncheon Harlee Gilliam- 5 th Grade 2 nd Place winner in the annual statewide fire safety contest.
