The Sabbath was never meant to be a burden Matt 11:28 “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you REST …” Mark 2 “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath”

The Sabbath is applied in Ch. 16 to the three major feasts of Israel In Lev. 23 – the Sabbath is listed with the 7 annual feasts and is called a day of “sacred assembly” Although we are not under the law, the principle applies: one day of the week is to be set aside for rest and worship The Lord’s Day

10 Commandments The Sabbath has been replaced by the Lord’s Day In the NT Christians met together on the first day of the week The early church fathers: “We keep the Lord’s day with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose from the dead” (Barnabas).
