Does Caffeine stunt a child's growth? By: Zach Brown and Brenden Kashat
2
What does Caffeine do to the adult body? Make you jittery and shaky Make it hard to fall asleep, stay asleep, or get a good night’s sleep make your heart beat faster Cause an uneven heart rhythm Raise your blood pressure Cause headaches, nervousness, and/or dizziness. Did you know? Caffeine doesn’t make a drunk person sober or fit to drive – it does not get rid of the effects of alcohol.
3
Where to find Caffeine and where is it used? Caffeine occurs naturally in more than 60 plants including coffee beans, tea leaves, kola nuts used to flavor soft drink colas, and cacao pods used to make chocolate products. There is a lot of caffeine in energy drinks. Caffeine can even be found in pain killers. Man-made caffeine is sometimes added to foods, drinks, and medicines. Ninety percent of people in the world use caffeine in one form or another.
4
How Caffeine energizes the body? Caffeine is known to boost the effects of neurotransmitters (Chemical Messengers), dopamine ( creates symptoms of shock by improving the blood flow) and acetylcholine (a type of neurotransmitter). Caffeine also increases the release of adrenaline via the sympathetic nervous system, which among other things can make your heart beat faster, send more blood to your muscles and tell your liver to release sugar into the bloodstream for energy.
5
What is Caffeine made up of? Are there different kinds of Caffeine? Most Caffeine is made up of Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc and Iron. These are the main minerals that affect your bloodstream. All of these minerals speed up the bloodstream for a certain amount of time and then your bloodstream stalls at a slower speed than normal which is commonly called a “sugar crash”.
6
Can someone get addicted to Caffeine? Like many drugs, caffeine is chemically addictive, that fact was proven by scientists in 1994. Caffeine withdrawal was finally included as a mental disorder for the first time—even though its merits for inclusion are symptoms that regular coffee-drinkers have long known well from the times they’ve gone off it for a day or more.
7
What Caffeine does to a Childs body? Caffeine makes children sleep less. When you sleep, you grow by a very little bit. If the child has an anxiety disorder, it makes it worse.
8
Is caffeine good for your body at all? Coffee has some health benefits. New research indicates that coffee drinkers may be less likely to be hospitalized for heart rhythm disturbances. Coffee consumption has also been linked to decreased risk of Parkinson’s disease and Type 2 diabetes. Coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated, does contain ingredients that may raise LDL cholesterol, but brewing coffee with paper filters tends to reduce this cholesterol- raising effect.
9
Does Caffeine really stunt your growth? Our final verdict is no, caffeine really only affects your energy. It will make you sleep and make you get a sugar crash. Especially if you add milk, adding milk will offset any negative affects.
