To inspire an appreciation and understanding of the art, history and cultures of the American West and the indigenous peoples of North America, The Eiteljorg Museum collects and preserves Western art and Native American art and cultural objects of the highest quality, and serves the public through engaging exhibitions, educational programs, cultural exchanges, and entertaining special events. 1. When you hear the phrase “Native Americans of Indiana” what do you think or picture in your mind? 68% remarked in some capacity about Indians, of those 52% specifically named one or more of the tribes in the Mihtohseenionki gallery 32% made comments un-related to the Native American tribes of Indiana 42% of those who picked up on at least one message the museum intended to provide had a personal connection/experience with Indians of Indiana, 18% mentioned not knowing that Miami Indians were in Indiana. All but one of the un-related comments had no relatedness to any gallery message

3.Is there anything in this gallery that stands out in your mind or raises a question? 69% commented about a specific aspect of the Mihtohseenionki gallery 38% made comments about another aspect of the Eiteljorg museum itself

4.If you could design your own gallery on Native Americans, what would it contain? 52% liked the way the museum had displayed objects and provided information about the Native Americans in Indiana 32% said they would add more interactive areas, i.e. more hands on activities, real t-pee, using Native Americans to explain objects and history 24% mentioned adding more objects such as tools, clothing, and handy work 16% specifically mentioned adding t-pee 8% mentioned that it would be nice if the hands on activities could provide the means for an object to be made and taken home

5.Is there anything else you’d like to say about this gallery? 72% had positive comments, i.e. very nice, terrific, think it’s great.
