Care Act 2015 Duty to promote wellbeing and make reference to suitable accommodation Housing should include housing related support or services Housing must be considered as part of an assessment process that may prevent, reduce or delay an adult social care need Care and support should be delivered in an integrated way with cooperation with partner bodies, including housing

WIRRAL PLAN 2020 Extra Care - Overview Demand – Older People Over-reliance on residential & nursing Waiting list for Extra Care generally 50 – 70 (currently 57) sometimes as high as 200; but it’s not promoted due to the limited supply Current / projected demand (being met via other methods of support due to limited supply)

WIRRAL PLAN 2020 Extra Care - Overview Demand – Learning Disability Approximately 600 people in Supported Living – Individual accommodation – Group homes Currently there are no extra care style alternatives (there is one 19 unit scheme in development) however the demand for this cohort is high

WIRRAL PLAN 2020 Extra Care - Overview Care Provision Chargeable service, provided on banded payment scheme (5 levels) Single provider supporting all current schemes, with option to take on new schemes Provision of housing + support not ruled out (support must be delivered at current contracted rate)
