7 Town and countryside together www.waverley.gov.uk Engaging with Local Suppliers Only 10 of the 7,970 businesses in our Borough employ more than 250 people. We recognise the importance of small businesses and work hard to consult, engage and respond to their needs. We use the Waverley Business Forum to engage with small businesses. We maintain a business directory so we can contact businesses about opportunities. We advertise contracts on our website and provide links to all business related sites.

8 Town and countryside together www.waverley.gov.uk Engaging with Local Suppliers We publish our capital programme each year in advance of the spending year which enables business to identify potential opportunities; press releases about new projects also give advance notice to businesses. We are currently in the process of procuring a skate park which is included in an area of major redevelopment. We decided to let the contract separately to attract specialist SMEs rather than make it part of the wider civil engineering contract being undertaken by a large construction company.
