Hardware Hardware refers to the parts of a computer that you can touch, the physical and mechanical parts of the computer. Examples include the keyboard, mouse, monitor, tower, printer and case. Internal hardware includes such components as the motherboard, CPU, RAM chips, electronic circuitry, power supply, hard disk, and other physical components.

There are two main kinds of software; (1)operating systems software (like Mac OS and Windows (2)applications software (like Pages, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, World of Warcraft, etc...)
4
Operating System Software (Interface) Every computer must have an operating system (OS) to run other programs. It is a set of instructions that tells a computer how to operate when it is turned on.operating system ๏ It sets up a filing system to keep track of and store files. ๏ It tells the computer how to display information on a video display. ๏ It recognizes input from the keyboard, sends output to the display screen, inputkeyboardoutput ๏ It schedules task and manages hardware like disk drives and printers. Common operating systems include Windows (DOS), Mac OS, Google Chrome, Linux, UNIX, etc...

A LAN is an Intranet Intranet isn't a misspelling of Internet. The prefix "intra-" is Latin for "within." An intranet works exactly like the Internet, except it's a network confined within a company, school, government or organization.
11
Wide Area Network (WAN) Wide Area Networks connect Local Area Networks (such as all the school networks in PSUSD) into a large network of computers.
12
The Internet a global system of interconnected networks
13
Modem Modem stands for “modulator-demodulator” and allows one computer to connect to another computer and transfer data. In order for devices on a network to connect to the Internet, the router must be connected to a modem. modem

Router A router is a small box that allows multiple computers to join the same network. Connecting to a router provides access to a local area network (LAN).LAN A router is a small box that allows multiple computers to join the same network. Some examples of filename extensions are:.png,.jpeg,.gif,.txt,.fla,.swf,.doc,.mp3,.m4v,.zip It’s important to leave the file extension on the filename! It tells the computer which program or application to use to open the file.
