WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN Kindergarten provides your child: with an opportunity to learn and practice essential social, emotional, problem- solving skills study skills that she/he will use throughout their schooling with the opportunity to learn patience opportunities to direct your child's curiosity and natural love for learning ability to express themselves

Curriculum Highlights Religion- Prayers, The Bible, The Liturgical Year, Sacraments, The Holy Family, The Trinity, Easter Season, Ordinary Time Math-number names, counting objects, compare numbers, addition/subtraction, place value, desrcibe and compare measurable attributes, classify objects, identify and describe shapes and analyze, compare and create shapes ELA- Read one syllable words, recognize common and color words by sight, use pictures clues to read, make predictions, identify characters, setting and main idea of a story, understand the structures of stories, retell story with details Writing-Write all of the letters in both upper and lowercase, write first and last name, write and correctly spelling simple consonant vowel words, write words phonetically, write from left to right and from top to bottom, use writing (letters, pictures, and words) to express own meaning, write simple sentences, showing the spacing between words Science- Scientific method, living things, matter, weather and seasons, types of earth, caring for the earth Social Studies-Citizenship, community, geography

Class Highlights 8 th Grade Prayer Partners- reading together, Polar Express Day, participating in class Mass and different activities throughout the year. Vocabulary Parade Family Projects (few times a year) Mindful Movements-breathing and movement activities Hands on learning Differentiated learning (centers, small groups and individualized support)

Most days I can’t check my email until after dismissal, so if there is a change in dismissal please call the office directly and they will relay the message to me.

Class Celebrations ● Homeroom parent will coordinate all celebrations with the teacher via email or sign up genius ● We will celebrate- Halloween, Christmas and Easter ● I will provide different activities for the “smaller” holidays (Saint Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day) ● Kindergarten Closing ● Treats need to be store purchased and labeled because of allergeries

Teacher/Student/Parent Partnership ● Tutoring Day- Tuesdays from 2:15-2:45 if your child needs additional support or guidance on a skill or concept. Must provide a written note by Monday afternoon. ●Open commuication between teacher and parent is vital for student success. Please contact me if there are ever any concerns or questions. I am here to support you and your child.
