An initiative to strengthen networks of forest territorial organizations at the global level

 Two years ago, some networks of regional organizations ( COICA+AMPB+ REPALEC+AMAN ) began pooling their efforts to achieve greater visibility for forest people at global climate events  In Paris (COP 21), this effort was supported by a special team working on logistical support and organization of a visibility event (with support from Ford Foundation)  At the suggestion from AMPB, this team made a proposal to Ford Foundation: the Weaving Ties initiative

General:  Strengthen networks of social organizations demanding rights over forest territories in Asia, America and Africa, implementing an exchange program, weaving ties. Specific:  Support visibility actions in global events  Organize and support exchanges of experience between local organizations  Create links with other organizations or networks worldwide

Organizations can learn from each other through exchanges of experience, strengthening each other. However, for these exchanges to be really efficient, it is necessary to rigorously prepare and facilitate them, creating moments of inter - learning and human contact.

 Global climate agreements and other international agreements are discussed by government delegates without taking into account the populations living in forests  The voices of forest populations gain more strength when they show a concerted work among forest populations from different continents  Since 2014 there have been several occasions where the experiences of the four regions (Central America, South America, Indonesia and the Congo Basin ) have coordinated joint action on global events  What makes the difference with the usual representatives of indigenous peoples and communities, usually from NGOs, is that organizations involved in this concerted effort really represent the populations of the forested territories

 Accompany international events where the four regions join their effort, seeking synergies with allies ( Handcrafted, Burness, Purpose... ) and other groups  Support a communication strategy of the global iniative of the four regions  Systematize the progress of organizations from the four regions  Support training of organizations from the four regions (focusing on women and young leadership)  Planning exchange visits between organizations from different regions on key points  Identify other regional networks to strengthen the overall incidence ( including Africa )  Measure impacts of the global incidence with terrritorial networks

 An ONG replacing social organizations  A travel or tourism agency  A press agency  A petty cash donor

 Establish a collaboration agreement with each organization to formalize a relationship  Visit their grassroots organizations  Integrate their grass-root organizations in exchanges and visibility events  Program in detail joint activities
