Other Potential Funding – ABILITY TO BENEFIT Individuals could be eligible for Federal Financial Aid (Title IV) if they meet one of the following ATB alternatives and are enrolled in an eligible career pathway program: ATB Alternatives: Passed an independently administered Department of Education approved ATB test Completed at least 6 credit hours or 225 clock hours –applicable toward a degree or certificate offered by the postsecondary institution Completed a State process approved by the Secretary

ATB Eligible Funded Career Pathway -Must Do the Following: Align with the skill needs of industries in the State or regional economy Prepare an individual to be successful in any range of secondary or postsecondary education options, including apprenticeships registered under the Act of August 16,1937 Include counseling to support an individual in achieving the individual’s education and career goals Include, as appropriate, education offered concurrently with and in the same context as workforce preparation activities and training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster

ATB Eligible Funded Career Pathway -Must Do the Following: Organize education, training, and other services to meet the particular needs of an individual in a manner that accelerates the educational and career advancement of the individual Enable an individual to attain a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, and at least one recognized postsecondary credential Help an individual enter or advance within a specific occupation or occupational cluster

Team Teaching Developing an instructional situation where two or more teachers possessing complementary teaching skills Cooperatively Plan and Implement Instruction for a single group of students using flexible scheduling and grouping techniques to meet the particular instructional needs of the students.

Alabama Adult Education Program Goal Assist Alabamian Adults to: Become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency. Obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children. Complete secondary school or complete the equivalent of a secondary school education.

Selected FAQ’s 1.Does every program have to have an Adult Career Pathway? 2.Does the pathway class have to be designed around a semester or is there a specific time period for a pathway class? 3.Will the pathway require managed enrollment? 4.Can we use allocation funds to attend national/regional career pathways professional development meetings or coursework?

Important Dates August 1 st – May 31 st – Funds Available for Use All funds must be expended by May 31 st, 2017 August 9 th – Pathway Project Presentations in Montgomery Each program will be given 8 to 10 minutes to provide a Power Point Presentation of their local plan August 16 th – Electronic Submission of Pathway Project plan due

Expenditure Information The Spreadsheet for reporting expenditures (spending report) will be sent Quarterly Submission of spending report will be required – October (should include August – October) –January (should include November – January) –April (should include February – April) –Final Spending Report (May) should be received by your AE Accountant no later than June 15 th, 2017 Program is allowed to create up to four additional line items on the spending report –Any additional line items should be included in the initial spending plan

Financial Records Your program will be responsible for – Maintaining the records for ever dollar spent – Maintaining time and effort documentation – Documentation must be on file and readily available for review All expenses must be allocable, necessary and reasonable

Data Documentation Required: Career Pathway Students have to be placed in AAESAP – Under Class Type – Select Career Pathway Career and Technical Faculty should be placed in AAESAP – View only status Credentials, Academic Outcomes, & Completion Information – Documented in AAESAP
