3 Upon arrival you will receive a Welcome Package and the CEU Student Handbook which will provide you with further information about student-related programs and services. First week – orientation held for all departments

4 Meeting CEU at the Pre-Session  The Pre-Session includes orientations about requirements for residence in Hungary, health insurance and housing arrangements.  The Budget and Finance Office  Psychological counseling  Career advising  Student activities and work of the CEU Student Union (SU).  Alumni Relations and Career Services helps organize meetings between new students and alumni

5 Getting Residence Permit For the entire duration of their studies a residence permit is required for all non EEA-citizens Visit the Immigration Office within 30 days of arrival to obtain their residence permit. It is strongly recommended to visit the office as soon as you receive your Certificate of Enrollment: this document can be requested after you have completed your matriculation form at CEU. 9 Lots and lots of types of passes! a single ticket: 350,- HUF a Budapest 24-hour travel card (1.650,-HUF) a 7-day travel card (4.950,- HUF) a 14-day pass (6.300,- HUF), a monthly Budapest pass (9.500,- HUF). The monthly pass allows you to travel day and night on any vehicles run by the Budapest Transport Center (BKK). If you regularly travel by public transport, the best arrangement for you is to buy a monthly travel pass - for which a pictured ID card is required.

10 Budapest pass Please ensure to carry your passport (copy is enough) at all times: the Police can fine anyone up to 150.000 HUF for failing to show a valid passport (or a national ID card in case of EEA citizens). CEU programs accredited both in the US and in Hungary, are eligible to opt for the Hungarian Student Card. Holders of the Hungarian Student Card are entitled to buy the monthly Budapest student travel pass at a reduced rate (3.450 Ft).
