Bell Work Monday 10/27/14 Today’s Objective: Linear Transformations Materials: Springboard book, Calculator, & P 3 Get a piece of graph paper off my desk to use for bell work. You also need 4 different color pencils. Begin (using a regular pencil) by sketching a small, simple shape in the center of the graph paper, indicating several points on the figure. Translate or slide the shape 12 units up and redraw it in a different color. Then translate the original shape 12 units to the left, 12 units down, and 12 units to the right, redrawing the shape in a different color each time.

Bell Work Tuesday 10/28/14 Today’s Objective: Scatter Plots & Trend Lines Materials: Springboard book, Calculator, & P 3 A 2-week old wolf pup weighs 3.5 pounds. At 4 weeks, the pup weighs 8.7 pounds. Predict what the wolf will weigh at 6 weeks. Once everyone at your table has made a prediction, talk about what your prediction is and how you came to that prediction. If you got different answers, then the table needs to come to agreement. Be ready to share your groups prediction.

Bell Work Wednesday 10/29/14 Today’s Objective: Linear Regression Materials: Springboard book, Calculator, & P 3 The equation y = 2.9x + 15.1 represents a trend line for a scatter plot that shows the relationship between the trunk diameter (x) in centimeters of white oak trees and the age (y) of the trees in years. Use the trend line to predict the age of a white oak tree with a trunk diameter of 80 centimeters.
