Protection of Power Systems Course Code: ELEN472 Credit Hours: 3 Prerequisites: ELEN372

Course Overview and Objectives Protective relaying is a vital part of any electric power system: unnecessary during normal operation but very important during trouble, faults, and abnormal disturbances. Properly applied protective relaying initiates the disconnection of the trouble area while operation and service in the rest of the system continue. This course presents the fundamentals and basic technology of application of protective relays in electric power systems and demonstrates the protection practices in common use.
