Jesus the Prototype But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:20-21 The case of Philip

Mapping the Prototype So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:42-4 4

Perishable Imperishable Dishonour Glory Weakness Power Natural body Soma-pneumaticos Earthly Heavenly First Adam Last Adam

What is Resurrection? Not resuscitation Not spiritual escape A new trans-physical reality A kingdom event (eschatological) Historically unique Received in deposit through the ‘born-again’ experience Demonstrated by the Holy Spirit (foretaste experiences) As foretaste in physical healing

Therefore … Respect for the body (overcoming dualism) Those who have suffered abuse (victim feelings: bulimia) Moral choices involving the body (Paul’s comments) Deciding about abuse to your own body (dignity empowered abstinence) Coming home (identity issues)
