Our Job Fair Goals Provide an overview of clinical and non clinical healthcare. Explain educational requirements of both. Describe and provide examples allied health jobs. Describe LPN, RN, and nurse practitioner jobs, responsibilities, and required education. Increase exposure to continue hiring more employees at Stronger Memorial Hospital.

Clinical/Non Clinical approaches in Healthcare Just because you work in clinic or a hospital doesn’t mean your role is clinical. The term has to do with whether or not you treat patients or provide direct patient care of any type, in which case your job is clinical. Clinical roles Non clinical roles

Educational Skills/Requirements of Non Clinical Health information managers= Bachelors Degree. Health info technicians= Associates Degree. Medical Transcriptionists= Associates Degree (community college). Medical Secretaries=vocational, institutes, and community colleges. Healthcare Administrator= MBA in healthcare administration.

Allied Health Jobs 2 categories: Technicians and therapists Therapist requires more education and training Technician works under a therapist to assist

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) Required EducationCertificate or diploma Key Skills Speaking and interpersonal skills, patience, and physical stamina; attention oriented, empathetic Job requirements Measure vital signs, collect fluid samples, observe patient reactions to meds, assist nurses/doctors, teaching family to care for the sick Professional CertificationCertification through professional associations

Registered Nurse RN Required EducationCertificate or diploma and State licensure Key Skills Speaking and interpersonal skills; empathy, patience, and physical stamina; attention to detail, job knowledge Job requirements Administering meds, observe patient reactions to meds, establish treatment plans, treating emergencies, using medical equipment Professional CertificationMaintain CE’s, PALS, ACLS, and any specialty requirements

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Required Education Bachelor's degree in registered nursing; master's degree as a nurse practitioner Key Skills May be primary care provider and duties are similar to those of a doctor Job Requirements Diagnosis, treatment, consultation, helps with all aspects of patient care Professional Certification State licensure as an RN and as a nurse practitioner by passing certification exams; organizations offering exams for nurse practitioners include the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board
