DNA Replication DNA Replication: A copying process before a cell divides It duplicates its DNA Making a copy of DNA to pass on an exact copy to new cells

How Replication Occurs DNA replication is carried out by a series of enzymes Enzymes unzip DNA helix by breaking the hydrogen bonds DNA helicases Free floating nucleotides match and fill in spaces DNA polymerase bonds DNA together and “proofreads” Results: 2 strands are made Each have 1 new and 1 original strand
