Welcome Why is internet safety so important? What are the dangers and risks? How can we help children to use the internet safely? Where can we go for further support and advice?

Why is E-Safety so important? A third of all 3-4 year olds are now accessing the internet in their homes. 91% of 5-15 year olds live in a household with internet access. (Ofcom research) The internet can be accessed from a number of portable devices, for example smartphones, iPod Touch, games consoles and tablets.

Communication with children is essential Which sites do you like to visit? What do you enjoy doing online? How do you stay safe online? What tips do you have, and where did you learn them? Cyber bullying Don’t deny access to technology. Discuss cyberbullying with your child. Save the evidence. Don’t reply.

Online Games Play and talk with your child Who are they chatting to? Check age ratings

Apps Make sure you check what the app really does, read the reviews and ratings. Don't download apps from non-trusted app stores. Always check the list of 'app permissions' before you download.

Parental controls BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media provide their customers with free parental controls. Many devices such as games consoles, smartphones and tablets have their own parental controls.
