WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, Assistant Managers, Umpire Coordinators, First Aid officials, Sports Trainers and anyone who has direct and ongoing face-to-face contact with children is to obtain a clearance. 1.Visit the Kids Guardian NSW Website (http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/working-with-children/working- with-children-check/apply/apply)http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/working-with-children/working- with-children-check/apply/apply 2.Complete the online application 3.Present themselves at a Service NSW Office or NSW Motor Registry for ID Verification (free for volunteers) 4. Present their Working with Children ID, Full name and Date of Birth to the Club for Verification  VERIFY the volunteers WWC ID Online prior to the volunteer working with the children  Keep a valid Excel record of all club verification checks  Appoint a Club Protection Officer  Implement and adopt a Club Safe Environment WHO NEEDS A CHECK? WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK All Working with Children Checks have been obtained by the appropriate people All checks have been validated by the club online and a record maintained. Be available to answer any questions in relation to obtaining a working with children check. Educate club members of the importance of a club safe environment. When do I need to get the check by? All checks should be completed ASAP. The legislation requires clubs to be compliant as of 1 April 2016. This means clubs may be audited for compliance as at 1 April 2016. We have coaches who are Under 18 do they require a check? No, children under 18 who are volunteering or working do not require under legislation to get a clearance. A CHILD PROTECTION OFFICERS ROLE IS TO ENSURE THAT: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK  Go to www.check.kids.nsw.gov.au and complete the online application form. If you do not have internet access, please telephone (02) 9286 7219 for assistance.  Ensure your details provided are EXACTLY THE SAME as the details on your identity documents.  Ensure you select the correct category: paid or volunteer.  Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an application number (APP) by email that looks like this: APP1234567  Go to a NSW Motor Registry, Government Access Centre, or Service NSW office. Find a location at www.service.nsw.gov.au/service-cemtre www.service.nsw.gov.au/service-cemtre  You will need to take along your application number and proof of your identity.  If you are in paid work, you will also be required to pay an $80 fee for a five year clearance. Volunteer clearances are free of charge. PLEASE NOTE: You cannot submit proof of identity on behalf of someone else. You must appear in person with yourown documentation.  You will receive a Working With Children Check number by email (or post if you do not have an email address).  Please present your WWCC number to your club CPO, along with your full name and date of birth.
