3. The verb you use in a sentence helps you tell when something happens. The time expressed by a verb is called its tense. Verbs show times by changes in the tense. There are three tenses: past, present, and future.

4. Present-tense verbs – show something that is happening NOW Example: Johanna always WANTS something different Rule – Add S or ES to a present tense verb when the subject is a singular noun.
