Purpose Great National Park, located in Central California, was established in April 17, 1935 as an example of dynamic volcanic action and orogeny of the Sierra Nevada Mountains that occurred 2 million years ago during the Pleistocene period and its vegetative example of combined virgin oak woodlands and prairies that have seen intense human use.

8. Characteristics – Community Lavendar Great National Park is located in Washington County. The County Seat is located in the city of Happyville, CA, approximately 35 miles west of headquarters. A gateway community, Lavendar, CA, is located midway between the Park headquarters and Junkville, CA, 7 miles west on U.S. Route 116. 16. Facility Management Division – Roads & Trails WG-6 Tractor Operator assisted by the WG-9 Maintenance Mechanic and seasonal WG-6 Tractor Operator, WG-6 Motor Vehicle Operator, and Laborers perform routine roadside mowing, drainage cleaning, and trail maintenance. Maintenance Mechanic performs sign maintenance. This year the campground road is scheduled to be resurfaced under contract with the Park assisting by re-grading and reseeding the shoulders. The Purple River Bridge will be repainted by seasonal Painters. Equipment is maintained by a part-time seasonal Mechanic working about 2 days a week.

17. Facility Management Division – Building Maintenance Routine maintenance is performed by the Maintenance Mechanic. Custodial services for the Visitor Center, maintenance shops, and campground are completed by the permanent Laborer assisted by seasonal Laborers during the high use season. This year exterior painting of the Visitor Center, two maintenance shops, and three comfort stations is scheduled for the Maintenance Mechanic and seasonal Painters. Interior painting of the Visitor Center is scheduled for the seasonal WG-9 Painters. Refuse is collected under contract.

18. Facility Management Division – Grounds Maintenance Grounds maintenance around the Visitor Center and in the campground is accomplished by seasonal Laborers during the growing season. Litter collection is completed by seasonal Motor Vehicle Operator and Laborer. Boundary markers are maintained by the Tractor Operator assisted by seasonal Laborers. Interpretive signs are maintained by the Maintenance Mechanic. This year 40 campsites are scheduled to be rehabilitated by the Maintenance Mechanic and seasonal Laborers.

19. Facility Management Division – Utilities Operation Water and sewer systems are maintained by the WG-7 Utility Systems Operator assisted by the Maintenance Mechanic. The Concessionaire’s contract requires them to be responsible for maintaining all utilities within 30 feet of concession operated facilities. T To fund these operations the Park operates clearing and reimbursable accounts. The concessioner and housing operations provide income to these accounts. Sewage flow equals 90% of the water production. Usage Breakdown

20. Facility Management Division – Housing Operation Residences are maintained by the Maintenance Mechanic assisted by the Tractor Operator and several seasonal employees. These positions are supported by rental income. Each residence will be occupied year-around. Basic pay period rents are shown below: 401 - $145.00404 - $168.00 402 - $153.00405 - $153.00 403 - $153.00406 - $160.00 Water, sewer, and solid waste charges are added to the basic rents: Water - $13.00 per house per pay period Sewer - $8.00 per house per pay period Solid Waste Collection - $8.00 per house per pay period Lawn care is included in the basic rent. The Park buys borrow dirt and crushed stone from pits and quarries located 5 miles from the Park entrance. Quarry loads dirt and stone.

Facility Management Division – General Information General Information: Organization Code: 5999 Anticipated Pay Increases: General Schedule Employees pay raise of 4.1% is anticipated for the first full pay- period in January.
