Was New Jersey successful or a failure? Yes, New Jersey was successful as a colony from 1664 to 1776 when it became a state.

When was New Jersey established? 1600s - Dutch colony of New Netherland (grew slowly) 1664 - King Charles II took New Netherland and received another piece of land between Delaware Bay and Connecticut River and named it New Jersey 1776 - became a state

What did New Jersey produce to export and make money? New Jersey produced: Livestock Dairy products Crops - soybeans, corn, wheat, blueberries, cranberries, and lettuce

Who made up the colonists in New Jersey? Settled by Dutch and Swedish as New Netherland and New Sweden. In 1664, the entire area was surrendered to the English, and given its name.

What form of government did the colonists of New Jersey establish? Colonial New Jersey had a proprietary type of government. A proprietary colony was chartered to a person or several people who were entitled to rule the land with utmost authority.

Flag of New Jersey The flag's field is a light, yellow (or buff) color. It was personally selected by General George Washington in 1779, and worn as a uniform color by his New Jersey Continental Line troops in the Revolutionary War. The centered blue shield features three plows, the head armor of a knight, and a horse's head above.
