4 Textbook Manager Responsabilities O maintaining the inventory of all textbooks and non-consumables assigned to your schools. O maintaining a record of distribution to teachers and students (if applicable) O maintaining a record of storage at the end of the school year O maintaining an up-to-date inventory of textbooks assigned to the school and maintaining the inventory in Destiny.

7 To find DESTINY go to https://destiny.richmond.k12.va.us or 1) Click “STAFF” tab then “MY RPS” STAFF TAB MY RPS

8 2)Click on “ONLINE SYSTEMS” ONLINE SYSTEMS

9 3)Click on “DESTINY LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” DESTINY LIBRARY MANAGEMENT

10 4)Find and click on your school ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL

11 5) Click on “LOGIN” LOGIN

12 6) Sign in using your regular RPS computer ID “USER NAME” ( everything before the @ in your RPS email address ) & “PASSWORD” ( AD password ) SIGN IN

13 7) Verify your name and school 8) Change the drop down menu to “Textbook View” YOUR NAME YOUR SCHOOL TEXTBOOK VIEW

15 Tabs, Options and Subtabs. Tabs contain the main categories we will be using in Destiny. Subtabs take you to specifics areas & groups.

22 Breadcrumbs help you navigate to another part of Destiny without losing the information previously worked on. To save time and avoid errors, Breadcrumbs should be used instead of the back button.

24 Access Help by clicking the Help icon in the upper right corner of screen. Click on help to see options offered by Destiny. Destiny provides two ways to get help: On-page Help and Online Help Click on Help

28 Part 5 Printing Student and Teacher Barcodes – A & J

29 1)Click on “REPORTS” tab 2)Click on “PATRON REPORT” 3)Choose “BARCODE LABELS” REPORTS PATRON REPORTS BARCODE LABELS

30 4) “Select by” Patron Name. “Sorted by” Grade Level 5) Deselect “Restrictive”, “Inactive” status 6) Deselect “Barcode number” (if using student barcode in the textbook) 7) Click on “UPDATE” GRADE LEVEL ACTIVE UPDATE PATRON NAME

31 8) Under “Select Patron Type” select “Students” only (or “Faculty” only for teacher barcodes) 9) Click “OK” STUDENT ONLY OK (TEACHERS ONLY)

32 10) Click on “RUN REPORT” RUN REPORT

33 REFRESH LIST 10) You will be redirected to the “Report Manager” Screen Wait a few seconds. Click “REFRESH LIST” VIEW 11) Once the report is complete click on “VIEW”

34 12) Barcodes are printed from left to right, and by grade level. You can download the pages or 13) Print on labels sheets or plain paper. 14) Identify the top of each page by grade level. Staple and keep for future use.

37 1)Click on Catalog tab 2)Drop down “Find” by ISBN 3)“Look in:” Richmond Public Schools 4)Scan ISBN number 5)Click “GO” CATALOG FIND ISBN LOOK IN RPS ISBN GO

38 6) Click “Add Copies” ADD COPIES Note: The copy availability information will show the titles available at your school and off site

39 7) Type the “Number of Copies” to be added 8) Scan or type in “Starting Barcode” 9) Choose the “Condition” of the book(s) 10) Click on “Save copies” 11) Place barcodes on book. QUANTITY BARCODE SAVE Copies that are not in sequence must be scanned or inputted individually. CONDITION

40 Barcodes come in sheets of 28. The numbers run in numerical order from left to right.

41 Textbook barcode labels have two parts: 1.Large barcoded label for exterior back cover. 2.Small number label for interior back cover. Exterior back cover Interior back cover

42 Where do both stickers go? The large sticker should be affixed in the upper right hand corner of the back cover as shown. back cover

43 The small sticker should be affixed on the book’s inside back cover near the binding as shown. Back cover

47 Part 7 Checking Out Textbooks to Students/Teachers - A

48 1)Click “Circulation” tab 2)Click “Check Out Text” 3)Plug in scanner base & connect to computer. 1. CIRCULATION 2. CHECK OUT TEXT

49 4)Checking out to students: choose “TO PATRON” tab. (To teachers choose “TO TEACHER” tab.) 5) In the “FIND” box, type the student’s (teacher’s) name or scan student’s (teacher’s) barcode number ( make sure box is selected for scanner to work ) 6) Click on student’s (teacher’s) name. TO PATRON INPUT NAME CLICK ON NAME (TO TEACHER)

50 7) In the “FIND” box, either scan or input the textbook RPS barcode number. RPS BARCODE

51 8) The textbook should appear under the “Checked out” heading. CHECK OUT TEXT
