Overview of Culture Family is the central part of the culture, everything revolves around the family. Celebrations are an important part of the culture. History of the Culture Hispanic is actually a ethnicity and not a race The term was coined by the US Federal Government in the Early 1970’s to connect Spanish speaking countries. There are many variances within the Hispanic community when it comes to traditions. Educational Considerations Language is often major barrier. Second generation immigrants are most likely to the best educationally than any other generation. Inclusionary Practices Integration of Hispanic culture throughout the curriculum. Make sure to spotlight Hispanic innovators throughout the year. Parent/Community Involvement Have parents come into the classroom to share culture. Make sure that there are Hispanic community leaders that are included in important educational decisions. Make sure that there are interpreters at all parent involved activities or events so that there is a way for them to get all information. Have parents come into the classroom to share culture.
