Christopher Columbus Came to New World looking for gold, spices, and trade route to India When landing in the West Indies, he believed he was in India thus calling the people India After realizing he was not in India, he named the land Hispaniola

Atlantic Slave Trade Many plantations and farms that were built as a result of colonization of the New World raised the need for labor Europeans turned to Africa for manual labor In time, the buying and selling of Africans by Europeans for work in the Americans became known as the Atlantic slave trade

Triangle Trade Over time, Europeans brought raw materials and goods from New World to Africa and Europe in exchange for slaves Those slaves would be transported from Africa to the West Indies Goods from the West Indies such as tobacco, sugar, and coffee would be brought from the West Indies to Europe This system of trade became known as the Triangle trade

The Middle Passage The passage that brought Africans to the New World was known as the Middle Passage It was part of the Triangle Trade

Columbian Exchange As a result of all of this trading… The global transfer of goods such as foods, plants, and animals as a result of trade during colonization became known as the Columbian Exchange
