3 INTRODUCTION  Women in India have come a long way from being just ‘homemakers’. The world now sees them with a different eye and a new respect.  Women entrepreneurship in India has come a long way from women working only part time.  Successful women entrepreneurs in India have made their presence felt in every field be it the world of politics, music, fashion, movies and entertainment or business.  Hindu scriptures defines women as the embodiment of ‘Shakti’ and she lives up to image every time, whether it is problem solving at home or running a successful business.  Here we have listed many of the most successful women entrepreneurs in India who continue to inspire us with their versatile abilities, persuasiveness, problem solving abilities, willingness to take chances and risks and the ability to motivate people around them.

4 MEANING OF BIOGRAPHY & ENTREPRENUER  Biography The term 'biography' means an account of the series of events making up a person's life An account of a person's life written, composed, or produced by another.  Entrepreneur: someone who excercises initiative by organizing a venture to take benefit of an opportunity and as the decision maker,decides what, how and how much of a good or services will be produced. The term 'Entrepreneur' has been derived from a French word 'Entreprendre' meaning to undertake certain activities. Her ability to make quick decision and tenacity to follow up has enabled her to make PepsiCo one of the biggest brands in the market today. Indira Nooyi is listed as the fourth most powerful women in the world by Forbes Magazine.

Her company has produced more than 25 serials and each one is being shown, on an average, four times a week on different television channels. Her most famous television venture has been "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" which began in 2000 and is still leading the TRP ratings in India. 14 NEELAM DHAVAN Neelam Dhawan is settled in Gurgaon and is in the IT Sector for the past 22 years. She is a veteran of the tech industry. She is the first lady of Indian IT. Dhawan is a mascot for all the women in the IT industry. Her accomplishment has been extraordinary. Early life of Neelam Dhawan Neelam Dhawan did a bachelor`s degree in Economics from St.Stephen`s College 1980 batch) New Delhi.Delhi Thereafter she did her masters in Business Administration from Faculty of Management studies (1982 batch)Delhi University. She also did an MBA in marketing.

Neelam started her career with the FMCG companies like Asian Paints and Hindustan Lever. She was unable to be a part of the marketing and sales as the organization didn`t prefer a woman to head the particular domain. She then had become the Vice-President of Customer Solutions Group before joining Microsoft. She also worked for four years in IBM and six years in Compaq. Currently she has the responsibility for revenues and profitability and ensuring the greatest leverage from HP`s Services, Personal Systems and Imaging & Printing businesses.

16 SHAHNAZ HUSSAIN Shahnaz Hussain a well known name in herbal cosmetics hails from a conservative Muslim family. She is pioneer in herbal cosmetics not only in India but the world over. She has been acclaimed to be the "World's Greatest Women Entrepreneur" due to her extraordinary contribution in herbal market. She has already grabbed 80 % of domestic herbal market and owns multiple chain stores in developed countries like Japan, US, England and as so on. Married at a very young age of 15 years.

17 RAJSHREE BIRLA Rajashree Birla is a successful woman entrepreneur and chairperson of Aditya Birla Centre for Community and rural development. Her focus is on the all-round development of the communities around our plants located mostly in distant rural areas and tribal belts. All our Group companies Grasim, Hindalco, Aditya Birla Nuvo, Indo Gulf and UltraTech have Rural Development Cells which are the implementation bodies.

19 BHAVANA KAKKAR Bhawana Kakkar is young graduate woman in Painting and Arts. She did also postgraduate in Art history from Baroda University. She has huge experience in fashion designing in India and she opened Art gallery. She is also publishing a magazine named "Take - Simple Black". 20 PRIYANKA MALHOTRA Priyanka Malhotra is successful woman entrepreneur in India. She is operating the business of book publishing and also devotes her time in cafe business. She did graduate in printing and publishing from Landon college of publishing. She also holds the degree of Msc. in media and communication field. After this, she came to India and became successful businesswomen in Delhi. Priyanka thinks differently about the idea of scaling her businesses. Here's a young entrepreneur unplugged. She got licence for operating cafe. She encouraged young woman in this video also.

21 DR.KIRAN MAZUMDAR Also known as the ‘Biotech Queen’ of India, Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is listed in the Forbes magazine as 50 most powerful women in International Business. Starting with a capital of just Rs.10,000 with her garage as her office, she created her first product in the year 1978. Her company Biocon has since then touched new height in the field of biotechnology. An active social activist she is a true role model for aspiring entrepreneurs in India.

22 STUTI JALAN At the age of 23, when most girls are just out of college and hunting for their first jobs, Stuti Jalan set up her own communications firm. Today, she has grown Crosshairs Communication from a single desk operation into a recognised Public Relations, Brand Consultancy and Social Media company. In 2011, Stuti received an award for Best Young Women Entrepreneur at the Women Leaders India Awards.

23 CHANDA KOCHHAR Born On: November 17, 1961 Born In: Jodhpur, Rajasthan Career: MD, CEO, ICICI Bank In India's male dominated banking sphere, Chanda Kochhar carved a niche for herself. This was no easy task. In her career which extends to over three decades of experience, she remained strong willed and alert. Her determination to make it to the top only grew from year to year. Kochhar's career growth can be traced along with the expansion of the bank over the past several years. She never stuttered in her growth and was one of the few who kept up with the aggressive development run of ICICI bank. It was her sharp strategic planning which made the ICICI bank the 'Best Retail Bank in India' for five consecutive years. As per Forbes, It's no wonder then that she has been ranked 20th amongst the most powerful women in business and in the world.
