Biblical Exegesis An exegesis is a method in which people interpret readings (in this case the Bible) to arrive at a greater understanding of the text and relate it to present today. -Underline words you do not understand and find the meaning of those words. -What are the key words, images, symbols? -What issues are addressed in this passage? -Find “real” art images to help illustrate / interpret the passage. -Read interpretations about the art work / or what the artist had to say. -Read commentaries about the passage. -What modern media example can you see that draw upon this theme? -Text to self – what does this say to you? -Text to text – what does it remind you of? -Text to world – current / world events -Formulate questions – what do you not understand.
