3. LISAP is a department of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, started HIV & AIDS work in 1989 but established as an FBO in 1994. LISAP coordinates & implements HIV & AIDS work, mobilises & empowers communities to initiate and sustain HIV & AIDS activities with a Christ centred spirit. 9. Target group Both in and out of school youth within the age bracket of 9 – 30 years. Much focus on girls because the needs assessment observes that they are the most affected gender in terms of SRHR uptake. 12. Activities to address the gaps Train the youth in SRHR & life skills. Build capacity aunts and traditional initiators in SRHR counselling and guidance. Advocate for linkages between health workers and teachers on SRHR. Train health workers & teachers in SRHR, youth friendly health services & life skills. 13. Approaches Diversification of Approaches The policy shall have different approaches targeting young people based on age, education level and gender. The policy shall also target parents and teachers with a different approach from that of young people. 14. Approaches cont’d Teachers, parents, health workers & other stakeholders shall be actively involved in addressing issues that affect young people’s SRHR. Approaches cont’d Sensitive issues I nterventions for young unmarried youths shall focus on ABDE+ (Abstinence, Be faithful, Delay sexual activity & Equal partnership in making decisions about sexuality. The main focus is increasing sexual debut and marital age of young people. 16. Social norms Working on cultural and traditional attitudes of early and forced marriages. 17. Approaches cont’d Access to counseling LISAP shall encourage professional counseling to young people starting at community as well as school & health facility levels. 19. Stakeholder involvement All projects begin with briefing stakeholders at different levels for proper coordination & complimentarity. Different stakeholders shall be involved in addressing the needs of the youth SRHR for diversification of methodologies.
